"The block in that car was cast approximately 27 days prior to the scheduled body assembly date. We haven't been able to see VIN numbers on the engine yet due to it being fully assembled and in the car, 27 is the ideal range of days prior to the body being assembled to make that block very likely to be the original one installed in that car at the factory but we will not state this is matching numbers for sure." We urge any buyer to come and inspect car prior to purchase.
A legendary muscle car if there ever was one, the 428 Cobra Jet Mach 1 Mustang is THE car. This is the model that posted countless race wins in nearly all classes of Pro and Sportsman drag racing, road-racing competitions such as the Trans-Am series, and is still being campaigned in numerous vintage racing events. Immensely popular to this day, the Mach 1 has been featured in movies, TV series, and has been recreated in Hot Wheels models and many other toys.
What's inside that makes it great? From the race-proven Cobra Jet 428, the durable close ratio 4-speed, to the ultra-famous Ford 9” rear axle, this record-setting package was the one to beat for decades. But that's just part of the story of this magnificent example. Extensively restored with meticulous attention to detail, this is a true time capsule car you can show, drive, collect, and enjoy.
This particular car is one of only 34 New Lime 428 Cobra Jet Mach 1's built in 1969. It is a very unique hue of green that instantly identifies it as a color that could have only been conceived in the late '60's to stand out among the wild colors of the period. Contrasted with the factory Ram-Air shaker hood and blacked-out hood treatment, there's nothing that doesn't scream “performance” in its presentation. In addition, it's perfectly optioned to be your classic collectible for comfortable drives, while having the neck-snapping performance of the 428 big block at your command whenever your mood strikes you.
