In 1965, Carroll Shelby got his hands on the Ford Mustang and turned the Blue Oval's “secretary's car” into a full-blooded racing machine. The on-track success of the Shelby GT350s led to the production of Shelby GT350s for the road, which were offered in various configurations until 1970. In 1969, as Carroll Shelby's partnership with Ford was coming to a close, the final iteration of the GT350 concept was released, based on Ford's newly restyled “Mach 1”-type body.

The example on offer is a very rare 1970 Shelby GT350 convertible that is one of just two examples produced that year as equipped. Finished in Acapulco Blue, this GT350 was shipped new to Gotham Ford, in New York, New York, then exported to Sweden and Norway, before returning to the United States where it received a comprehensive restoration back to its original specifications. This rare Shelby retains its original, matching-numbers 351 CI V-8 engine mated to its original, matching-numbers automatic transmission. Other notable features include power steering, power brakes, bucket seats with center console, roll bar, wood-grain interior accents and five-spoke Shelby wheels with Goodyear Eagle GTII tires. With documented history in the Shelby Registry, this GT350 convertible is offered for sale from The Heritage Collection at no reserve along with its deluxe Marti report
